This master navigational pocket Watch was originally cased and timed at the Elgin factory as indicated on the inside of the back case cover. W535ac serial no.

AF Elgin note although the pocket Watch winds, sets, runs, and appears to be keeping good time, it has not been timed for accuracy. It is in what appears to be its original base metal case. Refer to the pictures. However, although both the minute and hour hands are operating properly, the sweep second hand is inoperable.

The following markings are on the back of the case an 5740 mfr part no. Although the movement is marked 21 jewels, in reality it is a 22 jewel movement to accommodate the sweep second hand.

The reason for the inoperable sweep second hand is unknown.
