Each spoke of the wheel a separate component which actually screws into the wheel and holds the central Compass in place a quality little item.

Sold to the italian company secular oceanic and renamed irpinia in 1955, the ship was later refitted, in 1962, and her steam propulsion replaced with diesels resulting in a single funnel. The ship was broken up in vintage antique steam turbine ship n irpinia Compass watch fob in the form of a brass ships steering wheel helm, with an attached leather and brass buckle. The Compass works fine but the plastic cover is a bit foggy blurry from age and dirt.
