It does not work, however, and I see its balance hairspring would need reshaping. The silver case is original to the movement, and hands also look original; they are identical oldest documented Longines. Longines itself started producing in 1867, so this must well be its first or second-year watch. The crystal is also missing.

Offered here is a very early Longines key wind pocket watch, serial number #9852, made either around 1867 or 1868. The case does show some cosmetic dings which can be adjusted if desired. The dial does not have flaws as shown. The mainspring is wound tight.

The movement shows very interesting Longines mark and also its hourglass logo.
